Archive a board when work is finished but you want to keep the history. Duplicate a board when you want a fresh copy of a setup you already like.
Archive a board
You can archive from two places:
- Boards list: hover the board’s row and click Archive. A notice confirms “Board archived.”
- Inside the board: an admin of the board can click Archive board in the header and confirm the prompt “Archive this board? It will be hidden from the board list.”
Archived boards drop out of the Active list. Nothing is deleted, and tasks, comments and members stay as they were.
Find and restore archived boards
- Go to KanbanWP > Boards and click Archived above the table.
- Hover the board and click Restore. A notice says “Board restored.”
If you have an archived board open, the header button reads Unarchive board, which does the same thing.
Duplicate a board
Hover a board in the list and click Duplicate. The new board opens right away and is named after the original with “(copy)” added to the end.
The copy includes:
- the board description, settings and folder,
- all labels,
- all stages, with their colours and WIP limits,
- all tasks, including archived ones, with their stage, priority, dates, assignees, labels, checklists, attachments, custom fields, dependencies, subtasks and linked posts.
The copy does not include comments, activity history or the member list. Add teammates to the new board from Manage members.
Use duplication as your own template
Set up a board the way you like, with stages, WIP limits and labels, then clear out the tasks. Duplicate it whenever you start a similar project. This works well for client onboarding, recurring campaigns or monthly planning.
Delete instead
If you really want a board gone, Delete removes it with all its tasks after a confirmation. This cannot be undone.
