Every board has a search box in the filter bar, labeled “Search tasks…”. It is the fastest way to find a card on a board with many tasks.
Search a board
- Open the board.
- Click the search box above the stages.
- Start typing. The board updates after a short pause, so you don’t need to press Enter.
Clear the box to show all tasks again.
What is searched
Search looks for your text in each task’s title and description. Matching ignores upper and lower case, and it finds your text anywhere in those fields, so “launch” finds “Product launch plan”.
Search doesn’t look inside comments, checklist items, custom fields or attachment names. If you want a card to be findable, put the key words in its title or description.
Search with filters
Search combines with the other filters. Typing “invoice” and choosing the assignee “Unassigned” shows only unassigned tasks that mention invoices. See filtering tasks.
Archived tasks
Archived tasks are hidden from the board and from search results. Unarchive a task to find it again. See deleting a task.
Search scope
Search covers the board you have open. To look across boards, open each one, or use the REST API, which supports a search parameter when listing a board’s tasks.
Make tasks easier to find
- Put the main noun in the title, such as the client or feature name.
- Use a consistent word for recurring work, such as “Weekly report”.
- Keep key details in the description rather than only in comments.
